Fall is my favorite season merely because I have a uniform worked out; statement coat + simple top + structured boots. Plaid is a fun alternative to my solid jackets and can be just as versatile—I found this check coat from Nordstrom. To balance out the oversized silhouette, I paired it with a fitted turtleneck and heeled ankle boots. I wanted to try the boots on in person so when I saw they were in stock at the downtown location, I made a quick trip to check them out. The block heel is walkable and adds a nice bit of height—the sock-like fit wears well with my straight leg jeans, too.
