As of Late No. 1

Oops, it’s been a while. How are you? What month is it again? I’m not sure if it feels like a long year or a bad dream or maybe both? With all the highs and lows I’m finding solace in the little things like listening to good music. I often share what I’m listening to on Stories and shamelessly, I get much gratification from the DMs asking me to make a playlist — so for the five people who’ve inquired, here’s a playlist of new and old favorites. Oh and some visuals from life as of late.

Vanity Favorites

Harlem Candle Company: Inspired by her love of Jazz and Harlem, Teri Johnson founded the Harlem Candle Company in 2014. Why I love them: Romantic scents, rich storytelling, classic designs. Can’t wait to repurpose this glass!

Melanie Marie Jewelry: In 2013, Melanie White launched her accessories line, specializing in custom jewelry. And recently been featured on Beyonce.com! I’ve been wearing this initial necklace non-stop.

Lisa Says Gah: I’ve been a longtime admirer of Lisa Bühler and her Bay Area store because of the fun aesthetic and oh-so-fun-to-say name. Through the carefully curated shop, I discovered KJP and these quirky checkered flower prints.

I love a good moto, but sometimes a short jacket can make me look top heavy. This leather shirt jacket hits mid-thigh, creating a clean line that feels proportional to flare jeans. I’ve been really eager to try longer denim hemlines to give my cropped pants a break—love how soft these jeans are. For shoes, I swapped out my go-to block heels for a flat heel boot (cc: square toe vs pointed toe). These slight updates in styles definitely add the 2020 flare into my wardrobe. We went back home for the holidays, which meant it was time to finally break out my Moya moto jacket.  Unfortunately, it’s sold out, but I’ve linked to a few similar styles below (kinda the same, but not,  this coat is super cool and it’s on sale)! The rich camel color makes it easy to dress up or down, plus it pairs well with brown and black. And I know what you’re thinking – another pair of black boots?! Yes! Overall my wardrobe is pretty casual, especially when it comes to shoes, so I needed something a little more polished to round out my closet. It’s my first time wearing Miista and I’m already a fan. They’re fairly comfortable and super sleek. I normally shy away from boots with inside zips (as opposed to back zippers), but these zippers were fairly thin and structured, so they didn’t add bulk around my ankles. They run TTS (whole sizes only) — I wear a 7.5 and ordered a 8/38.
