A moody look to match the gloomy weather. I’ve been living in neutrals and fall-forward pieces like this black boatneck blouse and monochrome grey Bag. The Everlane Clean Silk top feels velvety, not too thin and the slouchy fit wears like a tee. If you’re between sizes, size down (I’m wearing a 2).

The Polene bag is the perfect combination of modern and feminine. I love the round edges and minimal design — the sleek button closure is easy to access. There were so many color options, but I was  drawn to the grey because it was paired with gold hardware — a mix I rarely find. It’s bittersweet to think there are only 32 days of summer left, but as the seasons change, so does the what we wear. The color palette that comes with fall is my favorite — think rich tones like burgundy and mustard and (my go-tos) moody neutrals like grey and navy. Over the past couple of years, I’ve learned how to pack smarter. With all things considered like daily OOTDs and/or attending events, I can usually get away with packing a carry-on for week-long trips. See below for 7 tips to staying sane and well-dressed while traveling:

1. Pack outside of your suitcase. If you have a loose agenda, plan your outfits by activity or day. You’ll be able to see where you can double up on certain items; like X shoes can be worn with 3 out of the 5 of the outfits.
2. Stuff your shoes. This one may seem like a no brainer, but it can make a big difference. Fill shoes (especially boots!), hats, or purses with small wrinkle-free things like socks or underwear. Make use of awkward gaps by rolling bathing suits or athletic wear between the bigger items in your luggage.
3. Try packing cubes. Organizing your belongings in separate compartments can ease some traveling stress, especially if you’re like me and don’t unpack as soon as you check in. Opt for soft, flexible cubes as opposed to hard cases as they can take up more space.
4. Stick with a color story. If possible, coordinate the colors of your vacation outfits. Instead of packing more outfit options, you’ll easily be able to mix and match your separates should you end up not “feeling” a certain piece. Plus, your Instagram feed will look on point.
5. Always pack a pair of jeans. I’ve made the mistake of not bringing a pair once and I regretted it. Even in the warmest climates, the temperatures can drop unexpectedly. Also, on the list of “always pack”? A white tee; it’s an easy emergency backup to that top that looked better when you tried it on at home.
6. Roll, don’t fold. Duh, I know, but it saves space and the rolls fit perfectly between the grooves of the handle bar.
7. Keep your makeup/toiletries in your purse. There’s nothing more stressful than rummaging through your luggage trying to find your toiletries (or having passengers behind you rolling their eyes) at security check. Place toiletries in the appropriate TSA approved bag and toss it in your backpack along with your makeup bag. I’m also paranoid that I’ll be asked to check my luggage at the gate because the plane is full and somehow it gets lost en route — if that happens, at least I’ll have my beauty products once we land.
