Maui Summer

Tyler and I spent the holiday week in Maui! About a year ago, we got engaged on the island so it felt nice to be back and reminisce—especially before we head into full-on wedding mode. We stayed for 5 nights and finally got a taste of true-summer weather. Here’s what I wore:

When you’re trying to dress for summer but it feels like fall… Sorry if you’re sweating just looking at me, but if you’re from San Francisco, you know what I’m talking about! I rely on separates to navigate through the seasons, which is basically an excuse to collect all the midi skirts. This one caught my eye because of the matte fabric—a nice contrast to all the shiny satin styles currently out there. I’m wearing a size 2 and it’s just right, other than the length. I had to roll it up at the waist to get it above my ankles. If you’re petite, you’d probably want to get this tailored or wear it with heels for a dressier occasion.

I’m pretty particular when it comes to boots. Since I’m on the shorter side, I like a 2″-3″ block heel for added height and maximum walkability. Styles that are narrow throughout the ankle and with zips located on the back of the heel look great with straight leg jeans and midi dresses. When I came across these faux leather boots from Nordstrom, I was skeptical, but the 4.5 star ratings (and $100 price tag) won me over. I was debating between the white/black combo and snake skin. Thinking I’d get more use out of the latter, I ordered my usual size, 7.5. If you have narrow feet, I’d definitely go a 1/2 size up. They aren’t particularly comfy, but they’re decent with a thick sock. The soles are pretty durable, but the jury’s still out on the longevity of the snake skin. Overall, I really like the fit and sleek shape of the boots—especially for the price!
