My mom sent me this recipe years ago. Since then, I’ve dubbed this pasta the best and easiest dish ever. What’s even better is that the sauce only requires 3 ingredients – although I tend to add a couple more if I’m feeling fancy.
See the simple tomato sauce recipe below!
Ingredients:
- 1 can San Marzano tomatoes
- 1 yellow onion, quartered
- 1 stick butter
- Minced Garlic (to taste)
- Brown Sugar (to taste)
- Fresh Basil
- 1 package pasta
Add the tomatoes (and the juices), quartered onion, butter, and garlic to large sauce pan. Cook on medium for ~30 mins, stirring occasionally. The tomatoes and onions will cook down — use the back of the spoon to squish whole tomatoes. Add your go-to seasonings and brown sugar to taste (I like my tomato sauces a touch sweet). Let the sauce simmer while you’re preparing the pasta. Once the noodles are done, mix them into the sauce one scoop at a time (depending on how saucey you like your pasta).
Top it all off with fresh basil and parmesan cheese.
